Your Guide to Halloween in West Chester
October 28, 20251. Historic Gibson-Harmony Hill Covered Bridge
Gibson’s covered bridge, AKA “the Harmony Hill Bridge,” was built in 1872 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This bridge is a one-lane tunnel, and it hovers over Brandywine Creek. Fun fact: This Bridge touches East Bradford Township on the east side and West Bradford Township on its far west end.
2. Copes Bridge
This is a beautiful stone-arched bridge, which is an extension of Strasburg Road, extending over the East Brandywine Creek. Again, it’s located in East Bradford Township. It was built in 1807 to a tune of $26,911.03. Inflation is real!
3. Goose Creek Bridge
What I like most about this isn’t necessarily the bridge, but the trestle with the train tracks that coexists with the bridge. It’s located on Oakbourne Road in Westtown Township. There’s a sneaky one-lane passthrough. The tunnel is a great test of patience. My instinct is to roll right through without coming to a complete stop. Every time I try and test nature, I’m humbly sent back to my place as another car comes barreling through. However, each time I come to a complete stop, there is no traffic, and my cost is clear. I love how nature tests me 😊
